And so another year has past.
Ever since the wedding life has been bliss.

Prior to my long discourse about life;

2011 recap since May (or the last post)
Wedding. Tonnes of fun with the helpers
Wish some people were there but alas.
Had a blast with those that did,
and hope they had as much fun as we did.
June: Back to work and realised;
i was away from work for at least 64 friggin days.

Surgery to Knee. Surgery for Appendix.
10 days MC.
21 Days annual leave.

You get the drift. Created my own bonus somewhat.
God is good.

Went fishing.
July came and went. Another year younger and older.

Inspirations.
Phuket Trip in August with A.Lee, Tan, Jessica, Agnes.

Date nights.
September and October flew by.
Cutting back on drinks.
Austerity measures.
KTV. Desmond n Jinx.
Movie craze for 那些年我們一起追的女孩
Book craze for 九把刀 books.
becoming a story teller for the mouse.
Then vocal lesson (s) together.
Novemeber and December flew faster.
Church. Christmas. Candlelight.
Then the new year.
And then suddenly the decision to join the OCBC.
We must be magnets.
first there was 2. then Ms She. Then Terry. Shawn.
Eileen. Adrian. and then some.

Made new friends, or the hamsters old friends from pri school.
And life today.

The story is jumbled. but it goes on.
Just like life.
Jumbled together with a mouse results in
flying bedding and tossed bones.
And two happy furry pets for the year 2012 to come.

Resolutions are made, and prayerfully kept.
Savings. Honeymoon. More love.

Hi blog :)

Nahhh its not gonna be one of those miss me posts.
in fact i've prolly not been blogging cuz life has been busy fruitfully.

In a huge nutshell. Im getting married. Customarily. Not again.
To the same mouse. same babu. same wife. same girl.
i fell in love with many many moons ago.

and we've been busy away from the blog.
planning for the wedding.
writing songs for the wedding.
singing them with myself and serene.
getting vincent to play the keyboard for fur-ever.
having inputs from jan and the others wrt the lyrics.
setting the videographers. a cinematic story.
the camera peeps. Photoshoots during the chinese new year.
with esther tagging along hahahahaha.
getting upsold from 3k to 6k.
and loving all the photos after a slight argument. (pss i win)
the bridal studios. Frida.
the dressing up. The wonderful brothers and sisters.
and just taking life as it comes since december.
work is work.
hoping vera wan and my music will fly sometime.

today was filming day.
i have no more 面子 after this.
everyone who is someone will know by May 16th.
i also found that nature provides bouquets of flowers
better than what you can find in flower shops.

the mouse is taking a nap.
i should be taking a nap.

but theres an irrepressible urge to blog.
and so here i am.

there will be airplanes flown.
but i believe those who will come will come.

Sitting here at my desk with abit of the runs now.

Simple pleasures remind me everyday that its the
little things we live for and not those huge moments.

friends. church. family.

many a time, i feel that words aren't enough.
but i give thanks for the many days we have had since.

Before the post starts proper:
Congrats to the SOT grads, they've done something
that i've been thinking of, just thinking of, for a long time.

So its another CG outing, or most of it.
Chris, Chris Bro, Jacky, yrreT, Kenneth, Jael, Esther, Agnes.
And the guest appearance of Robin, the dentist friend.

We went to Oasis for dinner.
The chef must have been crying very badly at the point
of time when he/she was cooking our food.
we also speculated the price of salt crashed overnight
on the commodities market.
nuff said about the taste of the food which was a tad disappointing
since its never happened before.

THEN, we headed to Udders Ice Cream @ Siglap.
We also note a few poltergeists that were around.

though not being physically there.
but they're loved nonetheless haha

Firstly, lets talk about the crowd:

actually, the word "crowd" does not suffice to
describe the multitudes of people squeezing into
that small space.
but i guess the stat board did get it right by
realizing we do have one of the highest
population densities in the world >o<

The cookies and cream was really nice,
the Tiramisu ice cream, unless you want to get high from ice cream.
its totally laden with alcohol. can't taste the tira from the misu.
and makes "i" wanna "scream" gahh~
not bad for a forfeit penalty to punk your friends with though.

So the evening went well, with lots of banter.
Though the place was too cramped for my liking.
Agnes's "please please pleaseeee" will never be forgotten, hahahhaa.
The really nice boy waiter.
Fervent exchange of flavors.
A colored shirt.
A colored blackboard.
An incessant craving for cider (perhaps only me...)
and before we knew it, it was 1130pm and time to go.

When an earthquake hits Tangshan in the Hebei Province, China, in 1976 at about 3:30 in the morning, a married couple is ... well, they are having sex in the back of their truck, but that's not important. The couple rush home to rescue their sleeping children. When the mother attempts to run into the collapsing building the father throws her aside and rushes in and the building falls on him and kills him. The children are alive but buried beneath the rubble in such a way that saving one of them would crush the other. The mother has to make a choice. After much weeping and wringing of hands she chooses to save her son. Her daughter hears her mother make the choice. Ouch! The daughter is left for dead but miraculously survives. She's so hurt by her mother's decision she refuses to identify herself and is taken to an orphanage where she is eventually adopted by a young couple who were part of the People's Liberation Army's rescue team.

The first twenty minutes of the film are all about the earthquake and CGI. After that it becomes pure drama, spanning thirty two years, with some haphazard scenes cutting in from time to time. The young boy grows up to be a successful businessman and the young girl grows up to almost be a doctor but marries a foreigner and moves to Canada instead. The boy doesn't know his sister is alive and the girl, despite the urgings of her foster father, has no intention of reuniting with her brother, or her mother. But the film is less about them and more about the mother. She is the film's emotional centerpiece.

The mother suffers long and hard for the decision she made and for the loss of her husband. She refuses to leave Tangshan because she wants to be there when the deceased return to her. She lives in a tent for a while and moves into a modest apartment when the family home is not rebuilt. Every year she visits a ceremonial site of mourning and gives her husband and daughter directions to her new place of residence.

The film builds to a crescendo culminating in 2008 with the earthquake in Sichuan. The brother and sister both go there and join the Tangshan Rescue Team as volunteers. The film drops into a low gear and downplays the moments when they meet each other and the daughter goes home to see her mother. Then there's all this tension about who should be more sorry, the mother for her decision, or the daughter for condemning and causing her mother to suffer thirty two years for that decision.

All of the performances, except the guy who plays the daughter's foreigner husband, are top notch, especially Xu Fan (the director's real life wife) as the mother. There are all kinds of wonderful and heartbreaking scenarios touching on the nature and loyalties of family. The boy's paternal grandmother wants to take custody of him because now that her own son is dead he is her last bit of male family blood. When the boy becomes a successful businessman he wants to move his mother into a nice new apartment, partly for his own notion of her happiness and partly for not wanting to be perceived as someone who is not taking care of his mother. What loyalties and affections should the daughter have towards her foster parents when she becomes an adult? And, of course, what about the daughter's decision to not let her blood family know she survived the earthquake?

Nuff said, just watch the show.

i've gone up and down the commissions ladder.
grew older.
found God again.
put down and picked up my guitar.

read alot, and then some.
went cycling.

planned my wedding dinner venue (finally)
grew socially.
met good peeps at my workplace.
learnt that everyday has to be lived intentionally.

cherish my wife and family more.

dates with my mouse.

waiting to catch the Expendables.

Stopped my army pants from retiring

Hi all.

Its been so long i've suddenly forgotten

Its March now, and still Marching on.
I'm happily married.

Clinic.Vivo.Running all over the place looking for ATM.
free movie. Asian Kitchen. Amazing dumplings.
Even more amazing company.
And a very wonderful evening just spending time.
With one another capped off with some
Fei Fei noodles.

And so another birthday has passed!
my hamster is now 25 :)
according to scientific research
and i'm the researcher;

This breed of hamsters
lasts a very long time as a pet and
make good partners in life to love,
to cuddle, and to hold.

assuming i live to 98
i still have another 70 more birthdays
to spend with this mouse
and i'm looking forward to everyone of them as
they come to pass.

i'm typing now with cough syrup in my body so
you know that this is true love.

i really feel, after marriage,
that the best gift.
to a loved one;

i.e. no TV and computer games or comic books.

November is coming to an end.
and December is coming.

Its a big month you know.
and it's going to be exciting~!

November went by in this fashion:

Work. Targets. Stress.

so we have a home to call our own.
and we've yet to send out the wedding invitation cards.

As i type.
im in the Victoria concert hall.
and im tired from a days work.
and im listening to at least 50 senior citizens sing.

btw, 50 is the minimum age.

this is not a ageist post.

cuz im wondering.
when im that age.
and if my desire for singing doesn't die.

would i be there?

so now imn sleepy.
no disrespect.
but if the tone deafs would step aside.
there are really a few gems to be found.
but its like looking for a needle.
or needles in a haystack.
a cacophony of voices.
and it takes real effort to single out the better voices.

recycled singers.
recycled dancers.
recycled uniforms.
recycled moves.

still.
its a fine performance for its class.
when the dancers eyeball each other to egg.
the other into moving the same way.
due to lack of practice.

im not making sense now.
and i need to study.

Why should men splurge on their proposal rings?

Ans: Because the proposal ring is used to show off to her parents,
relatives, best friends, colleagues, secret lover/admirers.

1) If the proposal ring is huge and expensive;
Her mum & dad will be happier and more willing to marry their daughter to you.

In the event of a future quarrel, they might just add that lil something
to bring her home to you due to that ring ;p

Think about it, which other higher power would she yield to other than God?

Her parents of course.

This is important because as JRR Tolkien would say, that ONE RING
will grant you a second chance, like a REVIVE button just in case
you screw it up in the future.

2) Her best friends and colleagues will be so envious of her
i.e. She will be so happy that you actually cared to give her face

Insomnia is the cousin.
Of the Samsung Omnia.
I wish i had the Omnia.
Not insomnia.

But.

Insomnia had me...

So i'm at home. With 2 days mc.
and very tired but unable to drift to sleep.

Firstly.

I just shifted to a temporary shelter.
Because my current house is undergoing.
A facelift.

You see,
even houses are getting into the swing of:
Nip and Tuck.

I'm intending to forward my home's profile to.

The Swan.

I also wonder if those surgeons could do anything for my home.
(i would greatly appreciate a beautiful bridge on my guitar
and beautiful finishes in a soundproof studio. *pretty please?*)

well we're at it.

i'm sleeping on a mattress which is really nice.
in an air conditioned environment which is not really nice.

don't get me wrong.
my skin loves it. everyone loves it.
everyone. but an entity that lives with me.

its called my nose. or more correctly.

my sinus's.

you see.

they're really bad neighbors that i can't evict.
i tried cutting them off.
but they grew back. with a vengeance.

they're no fans of the green movement.
by making me use lots of tissue paper. (alas, the poor trees)
they're so unfriendly, they make me cry.
they're picky;
always griping about hygiene, the weather, pollen, dust..

u name it, they'll definitely have something to say about it.

and they're entities of few words, if not none.
they rather show it through action.

such as the act of giving away stuffy noses.
lots of sore throats.
puffy eyes.
and the dreaded cough.
(tsk tsk.. utter disregard for the recent H1N1 scare)

for such a small part on one's body.
they sure can make life hell.
who says small things are insignificant?

they definitely proved their point.

nonetheless.

they are here to stay.
and i have to live with them.
its just like racial harmony.
that we do so well locally.
so i'll live with them.

just returned from Taiwan and it was an amazing time there.
alone with Chris for the first time on a trip.
we ate to our hearts content.
and drank to our hearts content.

The routine goes like this:
snack, bubble tea. snack again, more bubble tea.
snack snack again. still more bubble tea.

the BB Tea in Taipei seriously puts our local variety to shame.
the pearls are more luscious and QQ.
and their Jelly is flavorful.
the teas there are aromatic.
and put together, simply divine.

local bubble tea is seriously,
just bubble tea. sorry to burst their bubble.

as much as i would like to post pictures.
i have been too
a) lazy, b) busy, c)can't be bothered,d) All of the above.

so we had a great time.

Chris is trying to feature as a host doing travel destinations.

so we celebrated our anniversary there.
its our 3rd year together.
and it still feels like yesterday when im passing her.

Musings on a Quiet Weekend

Hey hey hey!
Im blogging like 3 times at least already in Nov.
And its such a rare occurrence.
since student life ended.

anyhow.
its been a good weekend.

but i've kinda spent the week pondering about morality.
sexual morality.
and how its been around the people I've heard.
and spoken to.
especially with regard to being chaste.
and the greying of moral boundaries.

i begin with people who do not seem to understand.
that sex and dating do not necessarily go hand in hand.
and that holding out til marriage is a perfectly.
acceptable behaviour and should be the way things work.

this arises from a biblical perspective.
and in fact is.
an essential fundamental of traditional society.
yesterday. today. and in the future.
where constant debate between religious bodies.
and ever increasing liberation-minded bodies do not meet in between.

but in the rising torrent of lax guidelines.
in the media.
the rush of information on the internet.
and the subscription of pop culture.
as made popular by western media.

norms change.
people change.

and it become a struggle sometimes to fit in.
especially for the people that THINK they have moved on.
and discovered a whole new level of thinking.
and living. and being free to just do whatever they like.
cuz its "one life that we have."

Sounds familiar? =p

don't get me wrong.
this is not a flame post.
nor is this a post to impose my view on others.

but to add another perspective about possibilities.

i wonder about the greying of moral lines.
because it has become normal to accept a loss of virginity.
before the age of 18. or high school.
they could even do a musical on it.
even lyrics tell you "we could do it.
like they do on the discovery channel."

i ponder about why people cannot accept and believe.
that its possible.
no hanky panky happens when a couple stay together before marriage.
when we're ultimately responsible for our own actions.
and are active agents of the choices we make.
and not by some hormone driven impulse.
"that allows a specie to sustain itself".

is it an insecurity where:
"if im grey. i hope the world is too?"

or

"since im not sure. lets make sure everyone else is like me.
then im good to go.
cuz im with it. and the squares ain't there yet.

but. they'll be.

i'm so sure. comeon.... everyone does it....right?"

right.........

if people seek consensus to reassure themselves.
for issues that have been debated and derided at for years.

then i think deep down inside.
they're doubting themselves. and what they really stand for.

and if that's the case.
they should really ask why they think the way they think.
and why they do and say the things they do.

before going on a crusade to grey the world too.

We acknowledge alternate standards exist.
and that "easier" standards are convenient.
and easier to propagate and live by.

quickies don't hurt. live and feel ya?

balderdash and utter nonsense...

i'm sure a good lot of people.
simply beg to differ.

though "non-conformity" today.
is taken as being with the times and being IT.
but when being avant-garde comes at a compromise.
and that compromise leads to a derision of others.
in a bid to reassure an esteem.
that's fundamentally flawed.

then we begin to have an issue.

then i can only feel sad and sorry.
and hope such misguided thoughts be put straight.

people make mistakes.
and if its guilt that's trapping someone.
in repeating whatever he does over and over.
just face up to it and move on.

if its loosing oneself.
to sensuality that one derives meaning from ones existence.
then its not a very note-worthy existence to begin with.
since its all about instant gratification and self.

For a broken generation.

the only solution is Love.
that surpasses all understanding.
that opens ears to things not heard.
and eyes not seen.

For the sick need healing.
and the weak need help.

Let's love well, and live right.

Hi all.
Its been a pretty interesting month.
to be honest.
its been a bittersweet experience.
and im savoring it nonetheless.

Life has been pretty eventful.
with a screaming girlfriend just 10 minutes ago.
with a cockroach in the washroom.
bwahahahhahhahaha.
and we're like a million times bigger than the cockroach.
from a cockroach's perspective.
man is the enemy.
and a newspaper roll is like a nuke to them.
*wham*
and off they go to cockroach heaven. (if there's one)
like the one that just died under anson's slipper.
half an hour ago.
its the revenge of the cockroaches i tell you.
under their little carapaces.
their planning for their eventual dominion of the world.

enough of cockroaches.

so November has been filled by.
Asia conferences.
electives on music. the band. and songwriting.
and i have been encouraged to get a mac book.

its all in the name of music. hehe.

3d's.... apparently we have alot of D's.
it was a fun preliminaries we had.
16-nil, 16-2.
though we didn't make it to the top 3;
a top 10 finish in the finals out of 60 teams.
ain't bad :)
and the final struggle was the best i've had in years.
blood and sweat. 300!!! (2.0 more like it ;p)

my baby and i have had quite abit of a food escapade.

and suddenly. u're free when you choose to.

Hi All!!

I'm awfully sleepy. and tired. but i just felt a need to blog.
that.
Its been a terribly fruitful Sunday.

Why you ask?

Well..... We woke late and.
We rushed out to grab a double cheeseburger and McCrispy meal.
We also saw a car model name which really looked like the word in red.

Anyhow...

Heres a Word for word definition of "Terribly Fruiful Sunday";

Terribly means terribly tired.burnt.tired.and more burnt.
Given we're trying to work out a 3-on-3 bball game.
Training's on Fri.Sat.and Dragon Boating on Sunday.

This also means we had a fruitful time.

so its been a period of many seasons since my last post.
that i've had my anniversary with chris.
that we're saving up really hard.
its really hard to save also.

that i've had my birthday come by and go.
that i've had to choose between things amongst others.
talked to the parents. and the aunts. and thank God for aunts.
the crunch time was horrible.
some stupid crisis came and went.
Rockband came around.
the Veapons of Mass Destruction came about.
so did the accidental Wii.
that Yiwen is into her second trimester.
Chris is in Australia.
Guy talks. The protracted, and then some. DarChang.
which was good.
Dark knights. Altar calls. Scrap-ping around.
Pregnant Jokes.Blonde Jokes.
that i'm in a new department now, with a new boss.
that i've shed some parts of myself.
that breakfast at Jones the Grocer was not a plot.hahaha.
i've had a good talk with Sher.
with Nihon-rice and Sapporo and Gyoza.
and its alot of pride. and alot of submission.
availability and alot of time management.
and i'm reaffirmed.
my vision for growth; it ain't me alone in that
renegade take on things.

one should really appreciate brokenness.
humility is a by product.
and then you realise you've come one full circle.

but stronger.

and its a new season altogether again moving forward.
that there's a season for everything.

and i know what i must do for the most part of it.

im back to sports.

Hi blog.
its been a million years.
and im paying you the homage you so deserve.
this of course is the marvelous culmination.
of:
procrastination. laziness.
and veri lil time since life has changed.
the ability to write crap has like.
vanished or something to that effect.
and life has taken on a much more serious disposition.

hello blog!

Today is a day of to remember.

Henceforth. all photos.
should not be censored by popular demand.
its also going to be a very disorganized post.
cuz i have alot in my head.
and i dont have the time to arrange it all nicely.
for your reading pleasure.
so.... read at your eyes peril.

to begin with.
i have graduated.
and am moving on to another job tomorrow.
no remorse. no hard feelings. no sadness.
just a sense of.
i dunno.... moving on?
like its the next thing to do after 1 yr.
looking back from a freshie that knew nothing.
i cant claim to have learnt everything.
but i think i would have done enough.
to be a friend. a colleague.
a team member. a christian.
that i have encouraged. that i have shared.
and i have tried my best there.
to be a salt and light. to be an encouragement.
to be Me.

Looking back further.
its pales in the bigger scheme of things.
where my colleagues one by one have "graduated"
or are going to.
and my return to church.
and that i have settled in a cell group.
and that i am attending regularly.
is a beeg thing.
that the priorities have shifted somewhat.
that there are renewed friendships.
new motivations.new directions.
new commitments.new desires.
of course. same love :)
that focusing on Him.
builds up everything else around Me.

its been a long long while.
it also means a long long while of busy-ness.
tired-ness. happi-ness. loch-ness. oops.

aniwae.

its been a very very tumultous period since the.
last post.
life has been very exciting and.
i just returned from reservist.
with extra poundage like 4 kg.
and i realised how much reservist is to be looked forward to.

faith wise:

holification has resulted in a much better person.
inside. and i'm so happy to be able to share.
with the one that means the world to me.
and those around me in good time.
and i am much happier.
and so is the missus.
that it has reached the stage of reciprocation.
that there is freedom that is so powerful.
its almost transcendal.
that being the head and not the tail.
that being the head that allows submission.
that when committed into His hands.
all things are possible. and it will be made good.
that trials and tribulations are for our lessons to remember.
that it will always never be beyond what we can bear.
and there is mercy.
and there is forgiveness.
and fear should only be to the revered One.
that the rest.
just aint gonna make the mark.
in standards.
in life.
in opinions.

let there be faith to overcome.
let there be faith and it will be done.

Indescribable~

that we do not proclaim "help me to believe"
but understand we each have different gifts.
and we walk in the Truth, The Way and The Light.

that we do not doubt.

i cant squat.

started work again on monday.
took myself for a drink on tuesday.
we were trudging by again on wednesday.

visited a boss on saturday.
went shopping with the missus on sunday.

no i aint chilling on sunday.

feeling sorry for the flowrs at thompson.
and the people up north.
watching The day after tomorrow.
kinda makes you worry about rain now.

that im about 1.6 ahem less.
and if i scoot off to some faraway island.
kenny's gonna scream.

that he's walking over now. 1048pm. sun.

that im committed to staying a lil longer.
that people are coming and going.
